THE JEREMY TREJO GOOD FATHERS FOUNDATION

What is the purpose of this Foundation?

This foundation was an inspiration for an answer to the shocking and sudden departure of our son-in-law, Jeremy Trejo, killed in a tragic SUV rollover accident.

While driving the thousand miles to attend his funeral my wife Diane and I were having a hard time grasping with the finality and empty loss of losing someone we considered a son. There had to be something more to let people know what a fine young man he was. He didn’t have a chance to get going in life. He was a fantastic father to our grandson, Trevor. You can tell by the pictures he was happy and proud with the boy.

We knew he was a good guy and had a heart of gold. His son deserves to know that too. So Diane and I decided that an answer to keeping Jere’s memory alive and to get some value out of this terrible tragedy was to set up a Memorial Scholarship in his honor. This decision gave us immediate peace.

Jere struck us as a young man in search of a family, his family. That was all he really wanted. He was zealous, tender and caring for his son while still being the big guy, who to his little boy was the strongest man in the world. Jere was a big guy! 6’4, 230lbs, when he got out of the MP’s, serving in the Army around the United States and a tour in Bosnia.

When we were at the funeral it was uncanny that almost everyone there felt that Jere’s most special quality, was his devotion to his little boy, Trevor. If Jeremy was anything, he was an excellent father.

So we decided the best way to honor his memory was to set up a scholarship and education foundation, helping struggling fathers just like Jere. We know it will have a vital impact for those who receive it, just as it would have had for Jere.

So for Dad’s trying to improve their life and their family’s life, The Jeremy Trejo Good Father’s Foundation is going to lend a helping hand.

This Foundation is also about teaching young men the values, qualities and responsibilities that need to be passed along from Father to Son about what it means to be a man.

We are currently working with Texas A&M Corpus Christi University in administering the scholarships. An application is available on this site.
